Make your house
truly smart.

From making sure your internet reaches every room to full smart automation: lighting, audio, video, climate, and security, designed as one system and installed so it looks like it was always meant to be there. It is for homeowners who want the technology in their house to work as reliably as the technology at their office.

Most smart homes are a drawer of separate apps, a dead spot in the back bedroom, and a television nobody but one person can operate.

The cost of leaving this alone is rarely one visible failure. It is the slow accumulation: the workaround that became the process, the thing only one person knows, the renewal nobody questioned.

Our starting point is always the same: establish what is actually true today, then decide what to change. Work scoped against an assumption tends to solve a problem you do not have.

  • 01Wi-Fi that dies in the back half of the houseOne more mesh node has not fixed it, and will not.
  • 02A different app for every deviceNothing talks to anything else, and only one person in the house can make it work.
  • 03The home office is the weakest linkConsumer kit carrying business-critical calls, on the same network as the children’s gaming.

What the engagement covers

Scoped before it starts, so you know what is included and what is not.

  • 01

    Wi-Fi in every room

A proper survey of the house, then coverage designed around its walls and its shape rather than a single router optimistically placed in a hallway. Concrete, foil insulation, and double brick all defeat consumer equipment, and none of them are unusual here.

  • 02

    One system, not twelve apps

Lighting, audio, blinds, climate, cameras, and entry brought under one control system that a guest can use without a tutorial, and that still works when the internet is down.

  • 03

    Audio and video done properly

Multi-room audio, a media room, or a television above a fireplace with no visible cables. Specified against the room, installed by people who care what it looks like afterwards.

  • 04

The home office that has to work

A separate, secure network for work, good video call lighting and audio, and the same service desk as the office, so a problem at home is not yours to solve at 7am.

Assess, deploy, operate, review

Four stages with a written output at each one. You always know which stage you are in and what comes next.

  1. 01Week 1

    Assess

We document what exists today and what it needs to do, so the work is scoped against reality rather than assumption.

  2. 02Weeks 2 – 4

    Deploy

Changes are made in a planned sequence, outside working hours where disruption would otherwise land on your staff.

  3. 03Ongoing

    Operate

It is monitored and maintained as part of your agreement. Problems are ours to notice, not yours to report.

  4. 04Quarterly

    Review

What it is costing, whether it still fits, and what should change before the next renewal.

What you should expect

  • Someone other than you owns it, with that written down.
  • The current state is documented and stays documented.
  • Cost is planned ahead rather than discovered at renewal.
  • Decisions are made against evidence rather than assumption.

Questions we get asked

01What is home AV?

From making sure your internet reaches every room to full smart automation: lighting, audio, video, climate, and security, designed as one system and installed so it looks like it was always meant to be there. It is for homeowners who want the technology in their house to work as reliably as the technology at their office.

02What does a smart home actually cost in New Zealand?

It scales enormously, and that is genuinely useful rather than evasive. Sorting the network and adding good lighting control in a few key rooms is a modest project. A full new build with automated lighting, blinds, multi-room audio, climate, and integrated security is a different order of investment. We scope in stages so you can start with the network and the rooms you use most, and add to it without rework.

03Why is my Wi-Fi bad even though I have fast fibre?

Because they are separate problems. Fibre speed is what arrives at the house. Wi-Fi is how it gets from there to your device, and that is decided by the building. New Zealand homes are full of things that stop wireless signals: concrete, foil-backed insulation, brick, and wet plaster. Adding more consumer mesh units rarely helps, because they have to talk back to the router through the same walls. The fix is usually cabled access points in the right places.

04Can you retrofit a smart home, or does it need to be a new build?

Retrofit is most of what we do. Wireless lighting control, smart switches, and audio can go into an existing home with minimal disruption. Cabling is easier in a new build or a renovation, so if you have walls open it is worth a conversation before they close. We will tell you which parts genuinely need cable and which do not.

05Will it still work if the internet goes down?

A properly designed system will. Lights, audio, and climate should run locally and continue working during an outage, with the internet only needed for remote access and updates. Systems built entirely on cloud services stop when the connection does, which is a design decision worth asking any installer about directly.

06What is the difference between using an installer and doing it myself?

Doing it yourself works well for a few devices in one room. It falls over at scale, because consumer products are designed to work individually rather than as a system, and because the network underneath is almost always the limiting factor. What you are buying from us is the design, a network that will carry it, an installation that looks intentional, and someone to call who is not a forum.

07Do you support it afterwards, or is it handed over and forgotten?

We support it. Systems are monitored, updates are managed, and you have the same service desk as our business clients rather than an installer who has moved on to the next job. This matters more than the installation itself, because a smart home that nobody maintains becomes an unreliable home within a couple of years.

08How much does home AV cost in New Zealand?

We quote after scoping rather than before. Anyone pricing this work without looking at your environment is guessing, and the guess is rarely in your favour. Scoping itself is quick, and we tell you what it costs before we start it.

09How long does it take to get started with home AV?

A first conversation takes about half an hour and costs nothing. Scoping is usually a week or two of our time depending on the size of the environment, and we agree the delivery dates with you before anything is booked in.

10Can you deliver home AV alongside our existing IT team or provider?

Yes, and it is common. We are happy to work as an extra pair of hands under your internal team, or alongside an incumbent provider on a defined piece of work. We will set out in writing where the responsibilities split, so nothing falls between us.

11Do we have to move all of our IT to Atlas to get this?

No. This can be delivered as a standalone piece of work for an organisation we have never worked with before, or folded into a managed agreement if you already have one with us. Plenty of clients use us for one thing and keep everything else where it is.

12Do you only work with Auckland businesses?

Our team is based in Auckland and we attend sites across the wider region. Most of this work is delivered remotely, so we support organisations throughout New Zealand, and we will say up front where being on site genuinely matters.

13Who will we actually be dealing with day to day?

Named people, not a queue. You get a lead who knows your environment and stays with it, which is the difference between explaining your business once and explaining it every time you make contact.

14What happens if we want to leave?

You keep the documentation regardless, and anything registered in your name stays in your name. Whether we stay involved is your call. Some clients take it in house from there, others move it onto an ongoing agreement with us. We would rather you left cleanly than stayed because leaving was difficult.

Start with a conversation.

Tell us what you are dealing with and we will tell you whether this is the right service for it, and what it would take.
