Phones that go
where you go.

Cloud telephony covering numbers, call flows, and handsets, working from a desk, a laptop, or a mobile without a phone system sitting in a cupboard. It is for organisations replacing an ageing PBX, or joining up a phone system that grew by accident.

A phone system nobody can reconfigure without a site visit is a phone system that never quite matches how you work.

The cost of leaving this alone is rarely one visible failure. It is the slow accumulation: the workaround that became the process, the thing only one person knows, the renewal nobody questioned.

Our starting point is always the same: establish what is actually true today, then decide what to change. Work scoped against an assumption tends to solve a problem you do not have.

  • 01Changes need a site visitA new starter, a changed greeting, or a holiday diversion becomes a booked job.
  • 02Calls only work at a deskStaff give out mobile numbers because the business number does not follow them.
  • 03Nobody knows where calls go after hoursOut-of-hours calls disappear, and you find out from the customer.

What the engagement covers

Scoped before it starts, so you know what is included and what is not.

  • 01

    New Zealand numbers

Local geographic numbers such as Auckland 09, national 0800 numbers, and mobile diverts. We can port what you have, source what you need, and hold both on one system.

  • 02

    Call flow design

How calls route in and out, including after hours, public holidays, overflow to mobile, and what a caller hears when nobody picks up.

  • 03

    Teams and mobile integration

Calls handled where people already work, so a mobile, a laptop, and a desk phone all present the same business number.

  • 04

    Handsets and headsets

Supplied, configured, and replaced under the same agreement, with the reception and meeting room devices specified properly.

Assess, deploy, operate, review

Four stages with a written output at each one. You always know which stage you are in and what comes next.

  1. 01Week 1

    Assess

We document what exists today and what it needs to do, so the work is scoped against reality rather than assumption.

  2. 02Weeks 2 – 4

    Deploy

Changes are made in a planned sequence, outside working hours where disruption would otherwise land on your staff.

  3. 03Ongoing

    Operate

It is monitored and maintained as part of your agreement. Problems are ours to notice, not yours to report.

  4. 04Quarterly

    Review

What it is costing, whether it still fits, and what should change before the next renewal.

What you should expect

  • Someone other than you owns it, with that written down.
  • The current state is documented and stays documented.
  • Cost is planned ahead rather than discovered at renewal.
  • Decisions are made against evidence rather than assumption.

Questions we get asked

01What is business VoIP?

Cloud telephony covering numbers, call flows, and handsets, working from a desk, a laptop, or a mobile without a phone system sitting in a cupboard. It is for organisations replacing an ageing PBX, or joining up a phone system that grew by accident.

02Can we keep our existing phone numbers if we move to VoIP?

Yes. New Zealand numbers port between providers, including Auckland 09 numbers and 0800 numbers. We set the timeline out before anything changes and schedule the cutover so there is no window where calls are lost. The only numbers that occasionally cause trouble are ones held on old bundled contracts, and we check that before you commit.

03How much does an 0800 number cost in New Zealand?

An 0800 number carries a monthly fee plus the cost of the inbound calls you are paying for on the caller’s behalf, so the total depends on volume. We will quote it against your actual call pattern rather than a headline rate, and tell you whether an 0800 number is worth it for your business at all. For a local trade with regional customers it often is not.

04Should we use an 09 number or an 0800 number?

An 09 number signals that you are an Auckland business, which for many local customers is exactly the point. An 0800 number signals national reach and removes any cost concern for the caller. Plenty of our clients run both, with the 0800 number advertised nationally and the 09 number on local material, both landing in the same call flow.

05What happens to our phones if the internet goes down?

This is the right question to ask and most providers gloss over it. Calls can be set to divert automatically to mobiles the moment the connection drops, so an outage becomes a change in how calls are answered rather than a business that cannot be reached. If phones are critical we would look at internet failover at the same time.

06Do we need desk phones, or is Microsoft Teams enough?

For a lot of teams, Teams with a good headset is enough and desk phones are an expense with no return. Reception, meeting rooms, warehouses, and anywhere someone needs to answer without a computer are the places physical devices still earn their place. We would rather specify a handful of the right devices than a phone on every desk.

07Is VoIP call quality good enough for a business?

Yes, when the network underneath it is designed for it. Poor VoIP quality is almost always a network problem rather than a phone problem: no traffic prioritisation, an overloaded connection, or Wi-Fi being asked to carry voice across a large site. We assess the connection before we quote the phones, because selling you a phone system that stutters helps neither of us.

08How much does business VoIP cost in New Zealand?

We quote after scoping rather than before. Anyone pricing this work without looking at your environment is guessing, and the guess is rarely in your favour. Scoping itself is quick, and we tell you what it costs before we start it.

09How long does it take to get started with business VoIP?

A first conversation takes about half an hour and costs nothing. Scoping is usually a week or two of our time depending on the size of the environment, and we agree the delivery dates with you before anything is booked in.

10Can you deliver business VoIP alongside our existing IT team or provider?

Yes, and it is common. We are happy to work as an extra pair of hands under your internal team, or alongside an incumbent provider on a defined piece of work. We will set out in writing where the responsibilities split, so nothing falls between us.

11Do we have to move all of our IT to Atlas to get this?

No. This can be delivered as a standalone piece of work for an organisation we have never worked with before, or folded into a managed agreement if you already have one with us. Plenty of clients use us for one thing and keep everything else where it is.

12Do you only work with Auckland businesses?

Our team is based in Auckland and we attend sites across the wider region. Most of this work is delivered remotely, so we support organisations throughout New Zealand, and we will say up front where being on site genuinely matters.

13Who will we actually be dealing with day to day?

Named people, not a queue. You get a lead who knows your environment and stays with it, which is the difference between explaining your business once and explaining it every time you make contact.

14What happens if we want to leave?

You keep the documentation regardless, and anything registered in your name stays in your name. Whether we stay involved is your call. Some clients take it in house from there, others move it onto an ongoing agreement with us. We would rather you left cleanly than stayed because leaving was difficult.

Start with a conversation.

Tell us what you are dealing with and we will tell you whether this is the right service for it, and what it would take.
